Here is the GTR 2012 Registration Process
NOTE: DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND, WE HAVE PULLED THE GTR 2012 REGISTRATION FORMS FROM THE INTERNET. IF YOU HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED YOURS YET, WE ARE SORRY AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AT GTR 2013.
It's easy to register for GTR 2012. Here's what you do.
1. When the registration form becomes available on February 4th, download it and print it out.
2. Fill out everything on the form, and send it and your payment check to us to the address on the form via snail-mail. No registrations will be accepted via e-mail or PayPal. Speed is not an issue, but you must get us the form by February 15th. No registrations will be accepted after February 15th.
3. Watch our registered riders page to check your status. The first thing you will see is that we got your check and your form. This does not mean that you are in the rally. It only means that we have your form/check, so you know the Postal Service did its job.
4. When you are accepted into the rally, your name will move to the registered riders list and you will get an e-mail telling you that you are "in". The e-mail will tell you how to make your hotel reservations in Dublin.
5. If you do not get into the rally, we will return your form/check and we will hope to see you at GTR 2013. If your check is returned, you will get registration priority at GTR 2013.
GTR Registration Criteria: After our mail arrives on February 15, we will amass all of the registrations that have arrived and determine who is in the rally using the matrix below:
1. GTR Hall of Famers. GTR Hall of Famers are guaranteed a spot in the rally and were able to register two weeks early. GTR Hall of Fame registration is complete for 2012.
2. GTR attendance. The more GTRs you have attended, the better your chances, to a point. If you have attended five GTRs, you get priority over someone who has only attended one or two GTRs. However, if you have not attended GTR since 2009 (Athens), all of the years you have attended count as one year. (Hey, where have you been for the last three years?) We feel that active GTR participants should have an advantage over people who we have not seen at the rally for a long time.
You can check how many times you have been to the rally on our GTR Rosters Page. If you think we don't have your attendance correct, please let us know as this is an important number we will use for your team.
3. Recent GTR attendance. The more recent your GTR attendance, the better. For example, if you attended GTR 2011, you get priority over someone who was not at the rally last year if both of you have attended the same amount of times.
4. GTR cancellations. If you have repeatedly cancelled your spot at GTR in the past (yes, we keep track of our cancellations), teams that have not cancelled will have priority over you. Sorry, but you should have been there.
5. Hat pull. We will put any remaining names into a stylish fedora and pull them out. Are you feeling lucky? Trust us, your chances are better this way.
We realize that the criteria above make it look hard for first-timers to get into the rally, but 20 teams were new at GTR 2011, so it's not as hard as it appears. We welcome and appreciate new riders and emphasize that your chances of getting into the rally are very, very good. You have nothing to lose, so go ahead and register for the rally.
